A couple of years ago I received some pages from an old Playboy magazine that contained the gorgeous paintings of Alberto Vargas, one of the most well known pin up artists in the world. I fell in love with the images of the “Vargas Girls” from the 1920’s, and immediately wanted to re-create them as photographs. Luckily I work with an amazing group of women who saw the beauty in Vargas’s art just as I did, and since celebrating the strength in womanhood is something we strongly believe in, we set out to bring this project to life. Although it took me a couple of years to get these re-creations completed, I couldn’t be happier with the outcome. Vargas’s stunning portraits of the American Pin Up Girl portrayed so much beauty and I am happy to carry this on in the 21st century. Thank you to my beautiful make-up artist Roberta Rodriguez for these pin up applications and to Jaq the Reaper, Can’Delight, and Gigi for allowing me to capture the beauty of the female form, and for helping me re-create these images and celebrate the power in being a woman.
